Diane and Stan’s Journey: February 24, 2014

As you have noticed, I tend to post only if we have more specific news so it has been quiet from my side for a while.  Today we received the results from a recent CAT scan, and they were not what we anticipated.  Diane’s cancer markers doubled over the past month (still low, but the increase was noticeable and telling).  The CAT scan showed that there is fluid in the left lung, the lesion in the left lung has also increased in size a little, there are lymph nodes that are swollen, and there is a new bone lesion.  Over all, it says that the Tarceva, which is the oral chemo that she has been taking daily, is not working as effectively as it did initially.  Furthermore, Diane has continued to lose weight after a one month person of gaining a little.

The doctor anticipated that this would happen, but he had hoped that it would be a year or two down the road.  He will be conferring with other doctors and a new chemo process will start in a week or two.

This is the first “bad news” that we have received since we began this journey in June, 2013.  It was not anticipated so the news was hard to hear, but we continue to take each day as pure gift from God and we seek to live it to the fullest.
